Special Steel Business Unit

This business unit works every day to steadily supply various types of special steel products, manufactured by leading steelmakers, mainly to users in North America, Europe, China, and Taiwan. The steel items we handle are used in such industrial fields as automobiles, construction machinery, information technology equipment, office automation equipment, and household electric appliances.

Bearing steels, which are used in automotive bearings, and intermediate-processed bearing products, which are made using bearing steels, are two of our priority product areas. Boasting more than 35 years’ experience and expertise in these product areas, we enjoy a good reputation among our customers. With growing attention focused on the production of automobiles and automotive parts and components in China, this business unit conducts business activities that meet customers’ needs by drawing on its accumulated experience and by creatingnew business models. In addition, stainless steels and free-cutting steels, which are used as spring materials for IT-industry and OA-equipment parts, are the products for which we have a competitive edge among the products being handled by this business unit. We are focusing our marketing efforts on these products, which are certain to acquire increasing importance with the expansion of the IT and OA industries.

As a primary trading company for domestic steelmakers, we also supply common steels, construction products, and civil engineering products. In addition to the tied-in and over-the-counter sale of common steel plates and sheets, as well as stainless steel and titanium products in the special steels category, we provide?in cooperation with our affiliates engaged in marketing, processing, and installation?characteristic iron and steel products, including pipe materials (joints and valve products), air-conditioning systems and equipment, environmental products, and ball-net steel towers for golf courses and baseball grounds?products that meet the diverse needs of our customers.

This business unit, in collaboration with our customers under an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system, is carrying out environmental-protection activities designed to solve environmental problems. For example, we suggest ways to reform transport packaging in a manner that allows the recycling of products and the use of environment-friendly materials. We perform our business activities in accordance with a policy that “cares about the global environment.”
