IT and Environment Materials Business Unit

This business unit deals in raw materials and other components used in lithium batteries, nickel hydride batteries, other types of batteries, highly functional magnets, capacitors, precision polishing agents, and water-treatment materials. These raw materials and components are indispensable for the production of refrigerators, air conditioners, Braun-tube television sets, household electrical appliances such as cellular phones, liquid-crystal television sets and DVD players, and automotive parts. These items are closely connected with people's daily lives.

In these product areas, companies throughout the world are competing fiercely with one another to develop high-performance, labor-saving, small, and lightweight products. This business unit, which has a competitive edge in Russia, the CIS nations, and China, has for many years been supporting users in their development of both raw materials and processed materials, and it has established trustful relations with these users by providing new overseas sources of supply and new materials to them.

At this business unit we maintain supremacy in the procurement, development, and import of materials that aptly serve the needs of the market, in cooperation with users' technical personnel, beginning in the product-development stage. With professional personnel in relevant fields playing a central role, we exchange information with manufacturers and users in various parts of the world, and we energetically work to develop not only new materials used in IT-related products and fuel cells, but also nanotechnology-related materials and new materials of other types.

Furthermore, given the growing societal importance of, and concern about, environmental problems, this unit contributes to society not only through its business activities but also by benefiting the environment through the development of environmentally sound materials.
